    Soon after moving to Soddy Daisy from the NY/NJ metro area, I tried this place. Now, when folks recommend it to me, I stay politely quiet. I even pretend I haven't tried it because I don't want to come off as a complete food snob. I am amazed what passes for "good, authentic" Italian food around here. Good quality food is fresh, flavorful and doesn't require copias amounts of food to take home. My dish of gnocchi included pieces of other cuts of pasta that obviously hadn't been strained out of the last batch the chef cooked .... or last several batches. Not a pretty sight on the plate. Had the pesto been good, I could have looked past that. But it wasn't. I hate to give one star to a local enterprenuer, but this could and should be so much better. Update: I've been contacted by ownership (who was quite understandably upset with my review). This person assumed I knew nothing of Italian food, it's preparation, etc. So I will clarify: I owned an upscale, Italian restaurant in the suberbs of NYC for nearly 20 years. I have traveled to Italy often (have family there). I make my own pesto from basil grown in my garden. So .... now that those cards are on the table, I intend, in all fairness, to make another trip to Flavors of Italy and try more of a variety of their dishes. Most places deserve a 2nd chance and I will be willing to eat humble pie (I have the recipe and have tasted it on several occasions!) and hopefully update this review more favorably. Also, I think from now on, I will include at least one redeeming feature in all my reviews ... even if "one star".

    Delicious, authentic Italian food, where you'd never expect it. All their herbs are grown fresh. I've never been disappointed by a dish here. The specials change often, so you always have a chance to try something new. And the atmosphere: they make you feel right at home, partially because the restaurant is setup to look like a home, but also because they treat you like family just for stopping by. It's charming, clean, friendly, and delicious. Flavors of Italy is perfect whether you just want to enjoy a authentic Italian dinner (cooked by the genuine article, straight from Italy), or if you want to make an evening of it and relax with great friends and great food.

    No flavor here. Very disappointing but in hindsight, what could we have expected in Soddy Daisy? We went here for the Monday night buffet at the suggestion of a friend who said the food was authentic. It's a little restaurant located in what looks like a home with tables in the living room and dining room. We were offered soup to which we accepted and we never received it. I had the ceasear salad dressing on my salad and there was no flavor. My husband had blue cheese which tasted watery. The rolls were very dense and it was served with olive oil with some seasonings which were probably so old and why they didn't have any taste. There were about 8 huge casserole aluminum tins with various dishes in addition to pizza and bruschetta. All of the samples from the buffet we tried were not hot, at best they were lukewarm. The eggplant lasagna tasted like buffalo chicken which was pretty odd. My husband had a slice of pizza which he felt tasted like something out of a box. There was not anything authentic here. Save your money and time and go to Olive Garden if you want boxed or frozen Italian food. At least its hot and has good flavor.

    We ate at Flavors of Italy last week and enjoyed our meals so early. Both of our meals were cooked well flavorful and delivered hot and fresh to our tables. Our salads came with house Italian dressing that was tasty enjoyable and the salad was plentiful. The desert cannoli was excellent and they even made a fresh pot of decaf coffee for me. The restaurant is small as it's in an old house but we did not feel crowded or cramped it all while we enjoyed our meal we will be back again.

    This place is awesome! I got the Shrimp Alfredo, it was an all around perfect dish. Fresh tasting. Flavors of Italy.. Hit the spot!

    First of all, the place is called Flavors of Italy. Second, the wife of the owner is Puerto Rican American. We went here despite mixed reviews. Party of three. One got the chicken Parmesan, one got the spaghetti with meat sauce (Bolognese), and one got pizza. All three offerings were terrible. Before that, some absolutely flavorless garlic rolls were put on our table. Where do you buy flavorless garlic? Or olive oil? Or bread? Terrible! Not a good way to start at an Italian restaurant. The olive oil dip was also flavorless. I asked for some butter for the bread and was brought a few clumps of flavorless margarine. Two people in our party ordered salads, which came with their entrees. About five minutes after ordering, I went to the rest room. When I came back, both the spaghetti and chicken Parmesan had been served! I've never had Italian food served so quickly! Not a good sign when Italian food is served ten minutes after ordering! And where were the salads? The entrees came out before the salads!!! Talk about a RED FLAG! Then the pizza came out. Needless to say, it was undercooked. For the first time in my dining career, the salads were delivered while we were eating the entrees. Pastas here are cooked al dente. But these were beyond al dente. Almost like chewing gum. The chicken, obviously (since it was served in ten minutes), was cooked beforehand -- and tasted like it. Dry, chewy. I hate to say it, but Olive Garden makes far superior chicken Parmesan. Spaghetti came with meatballs and Italian sausage. Meatballs were good, but I make meatballs just as good -- and I'm not Italian, as the chef here is. Sauce was average -- very pasty -- but there was not enough of it. Pizza was thick and doughy and was topped by a bad Italian sausage. Coffee was extremely strong and bitter. I think we got the bottom of the carafe. A ton of cream and sugar could not make this coffee any better. Gelato for desert was the highlight of the meal. Count on at least $15/person at this restaurant. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Update: I've also been contacted by management who accussed me of being prejudiced against Puerto Ricans and Italians. I only mentioned the fact that the wife of the owner was Puerto Rican because another poster said she was Italian and because SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS FROM PUERTO RICO. I couldn't care less if she was from the MOON as long as the food and service had been decent. This place is terrible, regardless of where the owners are from. If they cared even a little, there wouldn't have been the gaffes we had to experience on our one and last visit.

    I go here regularly. Quite delicious option with fresh herbs and homemade dressings. The rainbow salad is my favorite, has artichokes, basil, fresh mozarella. Giuseppe, owner and chef, strives to please. Portions are large! Small, intimate dining, bring your own wine. Unpretentious and delish!
